How Acupuncture Helps

Steady Support Through Every Season

Cycles, hormones and the road to pregnancy are rarely tidy. We take time to hear the whole story — your cycle, your energy, your sleep, what you have already tried — and build care around where you are right now. Many patients come to us alongside an OB-GYN or a fertility clinic, and that is exactly how this care is meant to work: as calm, supportive care in a demanding season, coordinated with the team treating you. It is complementary care, not a fertility treatment on its own. At Amrita, women's health care — including irregular or painful periods, fertility concerns and postpartum recovery — draws on acupuncture, Gua Sha and herbal medicine, looking at both internal balance and external regulation.

  • Care shaped around your cycle and what matters to you now
  • A calm, supportive routine through a demanding stretch
  • Comfortable to combine with IVF, IUI or OB-GYN care
  • Coordinated with your medical team, never in place of it

Personalized Plan

We create a plan just for you—highlighting the recommended therapies, visit frequency, and what each step is designed to achieve.

4

Treatment & Follow-up

Lu Gan

Lu Gan, Founder & Registered Acupuncturist

Founder & Registered Acupuncturist

Lu Gan founded Amrita Healthcare in 2022. She comes from a third-generation family of Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners and holds a master's degree in acupuncture from Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where she was later named a distinguished alumna. She trained under Dr. Wei Liu. The clinic's name carries her own: "Amrita" is Sanskrit for divine nectar, and her Chinese name, 甘露 (Gan Lu), means the same thing. Her practice follows the principle of Yang Zheng — cultivating inner resilience rather than treating symptoms alone. Her work has been featured in People's Daily.

Systematic Review

An individual-patient-data meta-analysis of nearly 21,000 patients found acupuncture was associated with modest improvements in chronic pain compared with both sham and no-acupuncture controls, with benefits that persisted over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about your care and what to expect.

What do you support on the women's health and fertility side?

Comfort through menstrual and hormonal changes, PMS and cramps, PCOS and endometriosis-related discomfort, the perimenopause transition, and supportive care while trying to conceive or going through IVF or IUI. We talk through your goals at the first visit.

Can I combine this with IVF, IUI or my OB-GYN's care?

Yes — that is the usual way it is used. We time sessions around your cycle and procedures and work alongside your fertility clinic or OB-GYN rather than in place of them. It is supportive care, not a fertility treatment on its own.

Is acupuncture safe during pregnancy?

When performed by a licensed acupuncturist trained in prenatal care, it is widely used for pregnancy wellness. We tailor each session to your stage of pregnancy and keep your OB informed.

How often would I come in?

For cycle-related concerns a steady rhythm often helps at first, and many patients space visits out over time. If you are working toward a procedure date, we plan around it.
