Digestive Health & Metabolic Support Through TCM

January 31, 2026

Digestive issues such as bloating, constipation or a slow metabolism are often linked, in Traditional Chinese Medicine, to spleen and stomach deficiency, disrupted Qi and blood, or damp-heat accumulation. Modern habits — long hours of sitting, irregular meals and stress — can make these patterns worse, and they may show up as fatigue and a general feeling of being run down.

How we approach it

At Amrita Healthcare, digestive and metabolic care combines several approaches:

  • Acupuncture — points such as Zusanli (ST36), Zhongwan (CV12) and Tianshu (ST25) are used to support gastrointestinal motility and circulation and to ease bloating.
  • Herbal medicine — formulas tailored to your pattern, such as spleen deficiency or damp-heat.
  • Manual therapy — abdominal tuina or gua sha to encourage local circulation alongside acupuncture.
  • Lifestyle guidance — practical adjustments to diet, sleep and light exercise that support the treatment over the long term.
  • In TCM, the spleen and stomach sit at the centre of overall wellness, so supporting digestion is also a way of supporting the whole body.

Every plan starts with an assessment, and individual results vary. Acupuncture and TCM are intended to complement — not replace — care from your physician.
